HP EliteBook 830 G5
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

There are 2 extremely small pin holes on the top lid of my HP EliteBook 830 G5 (laptop). See pictures.

Does any know what they are? They are not lights...they are 2 times tinier than the light pin holes and they don't light up. The holes are very very small. So much so that you will mistake them for dust particles.

Without zoom, it just looks like dust...Without zoom, it just looks like dust...Zoomed image...Zoomed image...

They appear to be tiny microphone holes.

Dear Dragon-Fur. Thank you for your answer and sharing the hand-book! It was really helpful.

Yes, it seems they are internal microphones. But those in my picture I found on page 30 of the handbook. I also have the one mentioned on page 20. So looks like I have 4 mics - I don't know why?. :LaughingTears:

You are welcome.

The little microphones on the front (top cover) are described as
World facing

From the Datasheet

Crystal-clear collaboration

Calls sound crisp and clear with advanced collaboration features like HP Noise Cancellation. Loudtop-firing speakers produce rich sound. The world-facing third microphone and collaboration keyshelp make PC calls productive.

The datasheet refers to the one "world facing" microphone - the service guide mentions that some models (yours included) have two forward facing microphones.

Happy Computing.

Yes, "world-facing" makes sense. Looks like they are designed to pick up audio from people sitting in front of me & the ones inside the lid are for me. Thanks very much!
