I have a USB Type C port that I hardly use but am fast running out of ports despite using 2 x USB 3.0 hubs.  The Type C does NOT have a Thunderbolt logo beside it and I would dearly like to know what will safely run on this laptop. FYI, it has an AMD Processor/Graphics chip.

Any help would be appreciated.

I reviewed your post and I understand that you want to know what devices you can connect to the USB C port on your computer.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

The USB C port on your computer supports data transferring and you can connect your storage devices to transfer data. You can also connect your phone or a battery pack to charge these devices.

Refer to the below link for the complete product specifications of your computer.

I hope that answers your question and you have a great day!

The_Fossette,

Can I run HDMI through a hub on the Type C port?   That is my ideal but I fear not...................................

I appreciate your help/

Thanks

You can, however, you need to try a few adapters to find the one which works with your computer.

Dear The_Fossette,

Now, that reply nearly made me fall off my chair!!!!!!!!!!

Why was I so surprised - simple answer was that I went into an HP seller - and we tried an HP Type C hub and guess what - it didn't work! No HDMI showing on an HP screen.

I have tried others via online sellers (had to return) but please tell me, and others, why we have to try several before we can find the right one. Surely with all the vast resources you have in HP, you could at least recommend a few or which don't work?

Aren't Type C peripherals supposed to be universal?

I await your reply with much interest!

The USB C port on your computer support data transfer only. HP doesn't recommend using adapters or converter as they will not have a proper driver and you can try that at your own discretion.

I hope that answers your question.

Thanks!

Dear The_FOSSETTE,

My question was somewhat tongue in cheek. As I already own the laptop and am not in the market for another one.

However, if you put a Type C port there, why not make it fully functional?

The extra cost of doing this must be miniscule compared to the time people like me waste on finding out the answer!

Disappointed in the answer, not your fault.  Please mark this as solved!
