What is it that determines whether or not an AMD system will work with an Intel Wifi Card? I've been told there might be issues if I were to use an Intel Card on my system, which is an HP Pavilion 17 e020dx. I have some suspicion that my laptop doesn't have a BIOS whitelist on NICs, tho I'm not 100% on that. I did some reading and saw ti has to do with OS and MoBo, mine is the Hewlett-Packard 1984, 01.16. Chipset is AMD K15 IMC. I know newer laptops support Intel NICs but what determines that?

If anyone does know, do let me know.

Your machine probably was built around late 2013/early 2014 therefore it MAY still have whitelist in BIOS.By some reason, HP only installed Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230 and Intel Wireless-N 7260BN 802.11b/g/n for machine of the series with Intel processors.

Due to the whitelist, the chance for upgrading wifi card to newer card is very slim to none. Please use the Maintenance and Service Guide on the following link:

Since you bought up the whitelist, how does it work? Is it a specific set of NICs that are different for every (lineup of) laptops? Or is it based on whether or not that part has an HP Part number? Asking because I was able to successfully upgrade to a Qualcomm AR9462, which does have a HP Part number, but was not specifically listed as a possible upgrade for my laptop in the manual.
