Hi, I was wondering what is the best CPU i can upgrade my G62 to? Since i still got a pentium and i want to maximize the computers processor. And can i even upgrade it?
specs:
Intel Pentium Dual Core Processor P6000 1.86 GHz; 1066MHz
8GB RAM memory (upgraded to max)
Samsung 870 EVO SSD 500gb (upgraded)
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470

If you look at chapter 3 of the service manual, there are only two fan/heatsink combinations.
One for notebooks with the onboard Intel graphics, and one for notebooks that came with the notebooks that came with the discrete AMD graphics adapters.
So, that would indicate the fan/heatsink is good for any of the supported processors.
Here is a side by side comparison of the P6000 and i7-620.
They both draw the same wattage.

Hi:
It appears that the best processor you can upgrade to would be the Intel Arrandale™ i7–620M Processor.
See chapter 1 of the service manual for the supported Intel processors.
The Pentium P6000 is in the same Intel Arrandale processor family.
