HP Pavilion 15 dk0056wm
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello, I wanted to ask what is the fastest ram that can be used on the dk0056wm?

Everything I read is telling me SO-DIMM DDR4 2666 PC4 21300, but I wanted confirmation.

Also, what is the maximum capacity for memory? 2 x 16gb or 2x 32gb?

Thank you and stay well!

Hi:

The fastest speed the processor your notebook has can run the memory at is 2666 Mhz.

https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/191075/intel-core-i5-9300h-processor-8m-cache-u...

The service manual indicates that 2 x 16 GB is the max.

The processor and chipset could support 2 x 32 GB but I can't find any confirmation that 64 GB would work.

Paul, thank you for the quick reply! So there are no options for using "faster" ram with XMP profiles or manual clock timings?

HP Recommended

You're very welcome.

Not that I know of.

The BIOS's are locked down in most HP notebooks and there are no XMP profile settings to change.

In fact, some folks have complained that when they added 2666 MHz memory to existing 2666 MHz memory, it ends up running at 2400 MHz.

That I don't understand one bit.

Hello Paul, I wanted to ask for your thoughts on memory upgrade. I wanted to upgrade to GSkill16mb with matching set. Will a memory with a latency of 18 (CL18) be accepted and run with no issues? Or should I stay with the present memory latency of 19 (CL19)?

Thank you again!

Hi:

Unfortunately, that I do not know.

However, I recommend you go with the same specs as the memory your notebook has in it now.
