HP 4540s
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I have the laptop HP ProBook 4540s, which uses a motherboard HP 17F6 (U3E1) KBC Version 58.21, based on Intel HM76 chipset.  I want to upgrade RAM and I found contradicting information online on the maximum supported RAM (8 Gb and 16 Gb). So how much RAM can I install?

The Service Manual says 8 gigs is the max:

Manual

However, it is a 3rd gen Intel Core platform. I would wager, but can't be sure it would take 16 gigs or 2 x 8 gig DDR3-1333 or DDR3-1600.

I bought 2 memory cards. 2x8gb (Goodram SODIMM DDR3-1600 8192MB PC3-12800 (GR1600S364L11/8G)).

My motherboard is Hewlett-Packard 17F6 (U3E1).
Laptop is HP Probook 4540s (H5J79EA).

When I put 1 card the pc works, when I put 2 card - no.

What is wrong?
