Hi. I purchased a HP ENVY Notebook - 17t-n100 CTO (ENERGY STAR) in 2016. Currently, it has a 1TB HDD (5200rpm) and I very much wish to upgrade. However, I want to keep a regular mechanical hard drive but I also want to add an SSD (preferably >=120GB). My problem is that I was unable to find out what type of SSD I can use for this laptop. Would it support an NVME or a M2? The one I was looking at the moment was the Western Digital WD Green 120 GB M.2 2280 SATA Internal Solid State Drive (WDS120G2G0B) (https://www.amazon.in/dp/B078WYRR9S/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_R9bmEb1X2JMSF).
Apparently, while looking at that SSD, it struck me that I really did not know whether my laptop supported an M2 or an NVMe. Your help and suggestions are very much appreciated. Thank you! 🙂

Hi:
Below is the link to the Crucial memory/SSD report for your notebook.
https://www.crucial.com/usa/en/compatible-upgrade-for/HP-Compaq/envy-17t-n100n-cto
According to the report, it can take a SATA M.2 SSD.
NVMe M.2 SSD's are not supported in your notebook.
