Hi @SB2409

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

It sounds like the fan issue is really impacting your computer’s performance and usability, so let’s carefully walk through personalized steps tailored to your situation:

Turn Off and Inspect:

  • Power off your computer completely and unplug it from the wall to ensure safety.
  • If it’s a desktop, open the case. For laptops, access the fan compartment. Carefully look for any visible dust buildup or blockages around the fan.

Clean the Fan:

  • Gently clean the fan and vents using compressed air or a soft brush to clear out dust.
  • Ensure the fan blades are unobstructed and can spin freely.

Check Fan Connections:

  • Verify the fan’s physical connection to the motherboard or power supply—look for loose cables or signs of wear.
  • If the connection appears loose, reseat it firmly to ensure it’s making contact.

Enable the Fan in BIOS:

  • Restart your computer and press the required key (such as F2, Del, or Esc) during startup to enter BIOS settings.
  • Navigate to the Fan Settings or Hardware Monitor section, and ensure the fan is enabled. Adjust the speed settings if necessary.

Monitor the Temperature:

  • After addressing the fan, use software like HWMonitor or SpeedFan to keep an eye on your CPU and GPU temperatures.
  • If temperatures remain stable, you’re on the right track!

Your computer’s cooling system is vital not just for performance but also for protecting components from damage. Let me know how these steps work for you or if you need help clarifying anything further! 😊
