I need to replace the primary battery on my pavilion lap top. Should I buy a replacement from hp or are they all the same? I could buy a compatible one from somewhere else for half the price.

As long as you purchase a compatible battery that has the HP part number and a one year warranty, it does not matter where you bought it from.

I suggest using a reliable seller from Amazon, where you do get a guarantee that a product will be as it was advertised.
