Dear friends,
Which SSD and which RAM for HP 15-ay048nia?
I have an HP 15-ay048nia laptop. Since my hard disk is broken and the computer does not start, I want to buy an SSD instead and meanwhile upgrade the RAM. My questions are as follows:
1- Which SSD should I buy for my computer? SATA1, SATA2, SATA3? I can't find which SSD is suitable for my computer's motherboard 😞
2- Currently, the computer has 4GB RAM and free space on the motherboard. What additional RAM should I buy?
Since the serial number of my laptop was deleted, I could not register on the HP website in detail. (Is the serial number written in a second place?)
I can take photos of the motherboard or any part of the computer and send them to those who want to help.
In order not to make a mistake, I request urgent help from you, my dear friends...

You're very welcome.
The screenshot of the memory you posted indicates that it is a DDR4-2400 memory chip.
I would recommend an 8 GB DDR4-2400 memory chip to put in the empty slot.
See if you can buy this one:
Crucial 8GB DDR4-2400 SODIMM | CT8G4SFS824A | Crucial.com
I recommend this model 2.5" SSD in a storage capacity that meets your needs and budget:
This is the 1 TB model which according to the specs for your notebook has the same storage capacity as the 1 TB drive that failed on you.
God Bless you too!
Cheers,
Paul

Hi:
Unfortunately, there are no memory specs for your notebook listed.
Your only option for an upgrade to a SSD would be to replace the 2.5" mechanical hard drive with a 2.5" SSD.
You want a SATA III (6.0 MBPS) SSD.
To find out what type of memory is installed in your notebook (DDR4-2100, or DDR3L-1600). run the free utility that I zipped up and attached below and it will tell you what speed memory is installed.
Whatever type it is, your notebook can support up to 2 x 8 GB of memory according to the service manual.

My dear brother,
First of all, I would like to thank you wholeheartedly for your kind answer. However, because the hard disk is broken, the computer does not start and I cannot download and run the program you provided 😞
However, you can access the basic features of the computer below: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c05421192
The most important thing is which type of SSD and SATA is suitable for the motherboard whose picture I have sent in the attachment.
I thank you once again and hope for your continued help...

You're very welcome.
Unfortunately, I can't see the picture details well enough to tell what kind of memory is installed.
However, if you remove the 4 GB memory chip, it should have some kind of description or part number on the label and you should be able to tell by that info whether it is DDR4 memory or DDR3L memory.

Dear Paul_Tikkanen, thank you very much, God bless you. It's nice to see that there are still good people like you...
I'm sending some close-up pictures of the HDD and RAM, as well as the RAM slot. (There is a phrase saying DDR4 H=40S on both black RAM slots.)
I would be very grateful if you could tell me directly which SSD and RAM to buy in terms of compatibility with the motherboard. Thank you from now.
