Laptop (product # 2GJ37AV) has a very noisy fan that runs all the time.
All recommended steps have been taken to resolve without success. Last resort is to replace the fan/heat sink.
There are 2 different part #s listed for a replacement fan:
- L04006-001 for those equipped with Intel i7-8550U processor
- 856277-001 for those NOT equipped with Intel i7-8550U processor
This laptop IS equipped with the Intel i7-8550U processor but the part # of the original installed fan is 856277-001.
Anyone out there know definitively which to use?

I reviewed your post and I understand that the system fan is making a loud noise and you want to replace the fan.
Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.
Have you updated the BIOS on the computer? Below is the latest BIOS available for your computer.
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp105501-106000/sp105623.exe
The fan part number listed in the service guide for your computer is L04006-001 for i7 processor models. However, I recommend you contact support and check once.
Here is how you can get in touch with support.
1)Click on this link – www.hp.com/contacthp/
2)Select the product type.
3)Enter the serial number of your device or select let HP detect your product option.
4)Select the country from the drop-down.
5)You should see the HP phone support number or Chat option listed.
Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

Thank you for responding to this post.
I had already updated the BIOS, among many other recommended steps, without resolving the problem.
Several unsuccessful attempts to connect with HP support later (they simply ignore "out-of-warranty" requests for help) - including a call to local dealer (selected from the HP support site) who tried to be helpful but could not recognize the laptop model - I signed on to this community in hopes of confirmation of the correct part #.
As you correctly identify, the service manual calls for the L04006-001 fan where an i7 processor is installed. What threw me is that the original fan that came with the new machine was the part listed for non-i7 processors and which could , in fact, have been the cause of the problem from the outset.
I am ordering the L04006-001 fan and will let you know how I get on.
Thanks again...
