Which voltage battery for HP 250 G5

Hi,

I'm needing to buy a new battery for my HP 250 G5 laptop.  The laptop shipped with the following processor and (integrated) graphics:

- Intel Core i5-6200U with Intel HD Graphics 520 (2.3 GHz, up to 2.8 GHz with Intel Turbo Boost Technology, 3 MB cache, 2 cores)

In the spec for this laptop 2 different batteries are mentioned.  These are:

- HP 3-cell battery 31 WHr (UMA only)

- HP 4-cell 41Whr

From what I can see on the internet the 3 cell battery is 11.1V and the 4 cell battery is 14.8V and I've seen notices saying the 2 are not interchangeable.  Is this correct?

If the laptop had the original battery it would be easy to just see what that was but unfortunately someone has previously replaced the original battery with a cheap aftermarket one which is labelled as 14.8V (2200mAh) and 33Wh.  This battery now holds zero charge and the laptop only operates when plugged into the mains hence the need for a new battery and I'd like to get the correct one.

I'm not 100% sure but from what I can understand the term UMA is associated with having integrated graphics so is it more likely that this laptop originally came with an 11.1V battery?

Both the 3-cell (HS03) and the 4-cell (HS04) are interchangeable and have the same format:

The specs/manual for your HP 250 G5 Notebook PC -see: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c05078579, and: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c06189775.pdf, indicate that the HP p/n: 807956-001 battery: 3-cell, 31-WHr, 2.8-Ah Li-ion battery, is intended for HP 250 G5 laptops with integrated graphics only, whereas the HP p/n: 807957-001 battery: 4-cell, 41-Whr, 2.8-Ah Li-ion battery is intended HP 250 G5 laptops with (added) discrete graphics memory.

Again, both batteries have the same dimensions (10.75 in x 0.8 in), but the 4-cell battery stores more wattage-hours, so I would go with the 4-cell HP p/n: 807957-001 battery.

Thanks for your reply.  So the different voltage between the 2 batteries is not important?  If not then yes I'll maybe go for the 4 cell battery

No, it is not.  Both batteries are compatible with your HP 250 G5 laptop.
