Recently my laptop stopped charging when plugged in - no charge goes to the battery.

I hover over the power icon, says "2% available, plugged in, not charging). When I take it out it recognizes that it's missing.

It works on the power cable, but the battery won't charge.  It happened right after a trip to Europe - I wonder if plugging it in there had something to do with it.  I'm using an "Insignia" cable, not the HP one.

It happened right after a trip to Europe - I wonder if plugging it in there had something to do with it.  I used a spare "Insignia" power cable, not the HP one on my trip.

It's not clear to me whether the battery has suddenly failed or if the failure point is in the laptop, and a replacement battery won't solve the problem.

I have this Failure ID: Q4PRAF-75US8L4-RXPR7F-C0D203 from the battery diagnostic test.   -

Can anyone tell me if replacing the physical battery is going to fix the prob? THanks! P

Thanks!

P

The battery is bad. I would get a new battery and a genuine AC adapter. Using generic adapters is not ideal.
