Hello,
I have an HP envy 15-ah150na which has APU 8700p with integrated r6 graphics of 512mb. It has 2 slots for ddr3 ram and only 1 slot is using as single channel 8gb of ram. I checked it and it is working at 800mhz speed when it should work at 1600mhz. My question is if I get another 8gb ram with the same speed, will it work at 1600mhz? Will it make any difference in gaming? I know it is not a gaming machine but will it improve the fps? At present most of the games running on this machine, fps is not going above 23 on average. I saw it in few places that if rams are on dual channel mood it makes a significant difference on fps. Should I go for another ram or should I be happy with what I have? Thank you.

Hi @ahsantushar12,
Welcome to the HP Forums!
Thank you for posting your query in this forum, it's a great place to find answers.
I reviewed your post and I understand that you want to know whether adding 1 more 8GB RAM will increase the FPS.
Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.
I would like to inform you that adding RAM will not help FPS, as FPS depends on the video card you have on the computer. However, if you add RAM it will certainly improve the overall performance of your computer.
Hope that answers your question and you have a great day!

On an APU system switching to dual channel memory mode by adding a second identical chip will improve frame rate but only a very small amount. Maybe 1 fps if you are lucky. Dual channel allows the memory bandwidth to be about 8-10% bigger but all that does not translate to mprovement in video performance.
