HP ENVY Notebook 17t-u000 CTO
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have purchased a Dock G5 for my other laptop and it works fine, but I am not having any luck with my old HP ENVY Notebook 17t-u000 CTO. Can anyone advise what I need to do to make it work,  It says there is an adapter for the usb-c, but i want to be sure I can get it to work before I purchase that item.

It is a CTO machine, I can't get its specs BUT it should have same ports of the following machine

No, you can not use all capacity of USB-C Gen 5 dock on your machine, they are NOT compatible. You won't get video out and you can't charge your machine from the dock (using USB-C).
