Will not launch assistant or Command Prompt (admin)

My Pavilion g7 Windows 8 will not update, launch assistant, command prompt (admin), or run the startup tests buy turning off->D2. It will only open a web browser, but will not allow me to launch the wifi network menu. No errors, just doesn't react. Please help!
