Hi all,
My ASUS G752VY notebook died and I upgraded to the excellent HP Omen 17.
I would like to take RAM from the ASUS, but wondered if it would risk voiding the warranty on my HP?
Any replies are appreciated,
Niall

Hi:
Here is the link to the compatible DDR4-3200 memory chip from the Crucial UK link.
Crucial 16GB DDR4-3200 SODIMM | CT16G4SFRA32A | Crucial UK
Your notebook's processor is only going to run the memory at 2933 MHz, so you can go with the 2933 MHz memory from Mr. Memory, or the Crucial 3200 memory from the Crucial UK website.
The 3200 MHz memory will automatically bridge to 2933 MHz.

Hi:
This is a peer to peer forum. We do not work for or represent HP, so we cannot write on their behalf regarding the warranty terms and conditions.
What is the product number of your notebook?
Use this guide to find that information...please do not post the serial number.

Some models indicate the memory removal and replacement is an authorized customer authorized procedure, so I would imagine that you will not void the warranty unless you break something during the process of upgrading the memory.
But I need the product number to provide the link to the service manual so we can see if that is indicated.

Below is the link to the service manual for your notebook.
The manual covers the older models with the Intel 9th gen core processors, but if you look at the top of chapter 5, the memory removal and replacement procedure can be done by the customer.

While you didn't ask, I looked up the specs of your old ASUS notebook, and unless you upgraded the memory to DDR4-3200 MHz, installing DDR4-2133 or 2400 MHz memory will either slow down your notebook considerably, or not work at all, since your notebook uses DDR4-2933 memory according to the specs.

You're very welcome.
The processor your Asus notebook came with only ran the memory at 2133 MHz.
It is highly unlikely that Asus installed memory any faster than 2400 MHz.
You can open the Asus notook and check, but if the memory is not at least 2933 MHz, then you should buy new DDR4-3200 memory to upgrade with.

Thanks again, would the following work OK? And is it 1 16GB slot or 2 8GB slots (I find it hard to tell from the description).

Anytime.
Glad to have been of assistance.
Chapter 1 of the service manual indicates that there are two memory slots, and you can install a max of 2 x 16 GB of DDR4-3200 memory.
I can't guarantee the Kingston memory will work unless you used the Kingston memory configurator for your model and got that part number.
Here is the crucial memory report for your model notebook. You would want the 3200 MHz memory.
