After upgrading to windows 10 Anniversary Edition 1709, my notebook is experiencing lockups. Especially with my HDMI connection attached to a 1080p TV as a monitor. Upon looking through the internet via google, there is no definitive support level for windows 10 on this notebook. It does support windows 10 but the only info I find from HP is the ones they have tested which is not helpful at all. Can anyone give me a more detailed answer? Thanks in advance.

Hi:
Your notebook was never tested or supported by HP for any version of W10.
There aren't even any W10 drivers for your model on the support page.
Here is the official HP document which outlines support for their products in W10...

So, if it no longer works with v1709, I suggest you revert back to the last version where everything was working properly, because there is nothing you can do to remedy the situation.
Even AMD never updated the W10 graphics drivers...the link below is the latest release for the graphics your notebook comes with. The last W10 release was from July of 2015.

Thanks for the reply, just so there are no misconceptions. My notebook upgraded to Win 10 just fine, all working. AMD actually has some updated drivers for the display and audio that work better the the 2015 drivers defaulted in Windows 10 from update and resolved my issue with a monitor/HDTV dual setup and using a older sony amp for sound output. The sony was occasionally give a bad feedback with a protect on the receiver. So I would encourage you to consider updating the the AMD site latest recommended catalyst install for your processor if you have these types of issues too. I also had issues with the fonts/visual text clarity. This is a windows 10 issue as they changed the default system font from Verdana I believe to another Segoe which at this point in time has definite issues with text display clarity on Higher Resolution devices(may be good for tablets and phones but definitely not for bigger higher displays. So it looks like the issues are Windows itself not the level of support. I would appreciate any added feedback, and again thanks in advance

You're very welcome.
Thanks for the info on the graphics driver. I have a HP 8200 Elite CMT and a dc7800 CMT running W10 FCE.
Those have Radeon HD 6570 video cards, so I will see if AMD has an updated driver for those. Mine are using the 2015 drivers currently.
I have older notebooks which run W10 FCE just fine now, but that will not always be the case as the newer editions are released.
If you take a look at the hundreds of forum posts that are generated each time W10 is updated...how they make things quit working.
Sometimes we were able to provide solutions that worked when one version of W10 went to another, but now are no longer are effective with the latest releases.
And unfortunately, since neither the hardware manufacturer's or the PC manufactuers are working on developing new drivers for the older hardware components, we are limited in what options we have to resolve any issues that crop up.
You seem to be up to date on the tips and tricks to get things to work again, so if you are stuck now with the lockups when connecting to an external video display, chances are that there won't be a fix for that.
I don't know if you have tried the latest AMD chipset drivers, but if not, you may want to give those a shot.
1st driver on the list. Install and restart the PC.
