Is my wifes HP 24-g020 Touch Energy Star capable of having the BIOS configured to install Windows 11?

If so could someone please provide exactly what I would need to alter in order to make it capable of that?

Thank you.

Hi:

There aren't any hardware upgrades you can do to that model PC to make it meet Microsoft's minimum W11 hardware requirements which require two items you can't upgrade--the processor and to add a TPM 2.0 security device.

If you are interested in installing W11 on your PC as is, you can read this discussion for how I upgraded several HP and Dell notebook and desktop PC's that did not meet the W11 hardware requirements to W11 22H2.

You have to use the version of the Rufus utility that I zipped up and attached in the discussion (v3.18).

If the in-place upgrade fails, you should be able to clean install W11 using the bootable W11 installation flash drive you made with Rufus.

Thank you for you very quick response. I am not really looking at installing W11 on her computer (she has enough trouble dealing with W10 (smile). I was just curious. Thank you again and we can consider this query solved/closed.

  1. Check System Requirements:

    • Ensure that your computer meets the minimum system requirements for Windows 11. These requirements may include a compatible 64-bit processor, 4 GB or more of RAM, 64 GB or more of storage, a DirectX 12 compatible graphics card or integrated GPU, a UEFI firmware with Secure Boot capability, and a high-definition (720p) display greater than 9 inches diagonally.
  2. Use Microsoft's PC Health Check Tool:

    • Microsoft provides a PC Health Check Tool that can assess whether your computer is eligible for a Windows 11 upgrade. You can download and run this tool from Microsoft's official website to get a compatibility report.
