I have a HP Envy laptop with an Intel Core i7-7500 CPU with a minimum clocking speed of 2.7GHz. The CPU has 2 cores and 4 logical processors. It has 128 KB L1 cache, 512 KB L2 cache, and 4 MB L3 cache. It also has 16 GB of ram.
When I run the compatibility checker for Windows 11 it tells me that the CPU isnt supported on Windows 11. Everything I have read states that the processor should be compatible with Windows 11.
Why is this happening? Am I interpreting the compatibility requirements incorrectly.
Also, there are several driver and firmware upgrades for several of the accessories on my laptop. HP seems to have those locked out and won't allow me to do the upgrades. Why is that happening?
Thank you - Steve Clemens

Hi, Steve:
The i7-7500 CPU does not meet Microsoft's minimum processor requirements of having to be an Intel 8th gen core or newer processor.

If you are interested in installing W11 on your PC as is, you can read this discussion for how I upgraded several HP and Dell notebook and desktop PC's that did not meet the W11 hardware requirements to W11 22H2.
You have to use the version of the Rufus utility that I zipped up and attached in the discussion (v3.18).

If the in-place upgrade fails, then you will need to clean install W11 using the bootable W11 installation flash drive you made with Rufus.
I would not know the answer to your question regarding the firmware.
Firmware updates are for specific model hardware devices.
