Thanks for the prompt reply SSJDENG! I will have a look into it. Luckily it's a new laptop though which I haven't yet migrated my files. So will probably just delete all the partitions I don't need (i.e. inlcuding the primary) and start ground-up on a fresh Windows 8.1 install.

Hmm, doing alot of reading but still not fully sure what partitions can be deleted and which should be kept (was a lot easier with my old 8470p which was MBR).
So far I know no. 5 can be deleted and no. 3 is OS required in most cases. Any further hints on what no. 7 may be would be appreciated (as it's looking like the only other one aside from 5 unnecessarily taking up space)?
Many thanks in advance
Jared

If you're going to do a fresh install, delete all the partitions.
I don't think the recovery partition will work if you delete and reinstall windows.
Just delete everything and fresh install windows. It will still create about 5-6 partitions.
