In late May, my laptop experienced the Windows Modern Standby bug where the computer hadn't entered the proper sleep. Unfortunately for me, this issue would've normally drained the laptop's battery if it was not charging. However, because I had been charging this laptop overnight, it became extremely hot to touch (I don't know, I guess the CPU was still on, but because the laptop thought it was in a sleep state, the fan stayed turned off). This behaviour killed the battery by causing it to swell and bulge within the metal chassis of the laptop. If I hadn't caught it, the battery could've been punctured and caused a fire within my room.
I'm sure it also damaged the thermal solution, as the laptop runs hotter. I can still use this laptop as I have removed the battery. However, I have been unable to contact HP directly to acquire a new battery. Because of the immense heat experienced my screen has also slightly bowed 🙂
Attached below: side view of laptop, the screen should be flush with the main body but because of a bulge within the main body it does not do that
Laptop bulge within metal case (should be flush)
Attached below: The extracted battery, seemed puffier before the picture was taken.
My warranty also ended in December, 2020 😅 (Doesn't really relate to my question, I don't intend on trying to get a replacement battery, the screen and thermal is already screwed anyways)
This Windows Modern Standby bug seems like it can turn a laptop into a potential fire hazard, how does HP intend to address this dangerous issue?

Hi @LV3i,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I see that you are facing battery swelling issues with your HP ENVY X360 - 13-Ar0501sa.
This could be a hardware issue with the unit and may need repair.
I suggest that you contact HP Service Center in your location from this web link.
Note: Select your country from the dropdown, enter the city or postal code, select the product, change the radius, and click on search to locate the nearest HP Service center near your location.
Hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
