Hi @Lar247,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP 17t  laptop might be experiencing issues with touchpad sensitivity or potential software glitches. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try.

Check Touchpad Settings:

  • Go to Settings > Devices > Touchpad.
  • Adjust the sensitivity settings or disable gestures to see if it resolves the issue.

Update or Reinstall Touchpad Drivers:

  • Open Device Manager (right-click the Start button and select it).
  • Find Mice and other pointing devices, right-click your touchpad device, and choose Update driver.
  • If updating doesn’t help, try uninstalling the driver and restarting your laptop. Windows should reinstall the driver automatically.

Check for Software Conflicts:

  • Sometimes third-party software can interfere with touchpad functionality. Consider disabling or uninstalling any recent software installations to see if the issue persists.

Run a System Scan:

  • Use Windows Security or a third-party antivirus to run a full system scan for malware or viruses that might be causing erratic behavior.

Perform a System Restore:

  • If the issue started recently, you might try performing a system restore to revert your laptop to a state before the problem began.

Check for Windows Updates:

  • Make sure your Windows operating system is up-to-date by going to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
