HP ENVY Notebook
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Using Windows 10 Pro, v1703, build 15063.332.  After the last windows update, the realsense cameras (used for windows hello) have been disabled.  No windows hello, no webcam, nothing.  The device manager still shows these:

I've searched for this problem and tried all the found solutions, including uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers (multiple times).  I have tired to use the HP Support Assistant, but that is boned too.  Turns out that the HPSA doesn't know how to find an active network connection if you have a HyperV virtual network installed.  One reason I bought this laptop is because it came with Windows Pro which provides HyperV.  You need to have the programmer (intern?) that did the HPSA talk with the person who HP network check tool .. it works without difficulty.  I even manually updated the HPSA to v8.3.42.3.

Anyway has anyone figured out how to get their realsense cameras working again?

Thanks

Thank you for your reply.  I disabled then re-enabled the realsense device, which had no effect on the problem.  I have no intention of resetting the machine, that would just require me to reinstall software and after Windows updates completed, I'd  likely be in the same situation.

I decided to take a different approach.  Before I was looking at problems based on Windows "Hello".  I decided to try to find solutions to the webcamera failure or the error: "We can't find your camera - Error code: 0xA00F4244(0xC00DABED)".  This lead to a rather odd (to me) solution.  The "trick" was to uninstall the device  checking the "Delete the driver software for this device" (see image).  Then immediately reboot your machine (the drivers should be automatically reinstalled).

It appears (based on the Device Manager) that the missing component was the "Intel(R) RealSense(TM) Camera SR300 Virtual Driver"

Hi @SuperIrritated

Welcome to the HP Forums!

This is a wonderful place to converse with the community, get assistance and find tips.

I reviewed your post and understand that the webcam is not working after the windows 10 update.

I’d love to help!

Awesome job on diagnosing the issue correctly and performing smart troubleshooting before posting your question on HP forums. Kudos to you on that score.

I recommend you to right-click on the real sense camera driver in device manager and choose enable and check if that resolves the issue.

If the issue persists, I suggest you to perform a refresh on the computer. Follow the steps in the below article to perform a refresh.

Were you able to download the SR300 virtual driver?

I'm still having this problem with Windows Creator's edition.  When I versioned back I still can't get my drivers to load.

HP Recommended

I did not download the drivers (manually).  I deleted them, rebooted and Windows found and installed the correct drivers.  This assumes you are network connected.

Unfortunately, I deleted the drivers and rebooted and they didn't show back up.  I also tried to uninstall DCM to reload the drivers but got this error.  Frustrating.

Tried to reinstall over it and got this error:

Your images didn't display.  If the drivers aren't automatically downloaded, then you should be able to download them from here: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/92329/Intel-RealSense-Camera-SR300

(Intel makes the SR300 module that is intergrated into the laptops bezel)

Huh, not sure why my images didn't display.

When I try to uninstall DCM I get:

And I already tried downloading from that link and I always get this error:

Not sure I did not experience that.  When you look at it using the Device Manager does it show that the device is installed?
