My CPU clocks newer goes highter, then 0.8 GHz while notebook is connected to electric network. As soon, as I start working with battery only, clocks gets normal 1.6-2.2 GHz. It's definitely not the windows power management settings. What's goin on and what can I do with this?

@Ilia3,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I reviewed your post and I understand that the CPU throttles at 0.8GHz when the charger is connected.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

  • The charger connected directly to the wall?
  • Are you using the original charger shipped with the PC?
  • Do you use any extensions or spike busters?

Meanwhile, I recommend you update the BIOS and the chipset driver from the below link and check if it helps.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

Hi.

The charger is original, it was working well all the time.

I think, it's spike buster, now I see normal clocks.

Why does it happens? I don't see any electrical problems.

@Ilia3
Thank you for posting back.

I am glad to know that you managed to resolve the issue. A sudden rise in voltage or more is generally classed as a “voltage surge” while a spike more typically refers to shorter-lived increases in power. I would suggest using a direct power outlet will avoid any electric surge.

Please reach out again for any further assistance.
Have a nice day ahead.
