Spectre x360

My Spectre does not respond to keyboard, trackpad, and touchscreen input. After running through several diagnostics and re-installing Windows and a BIOS update I suspect it's motherboard is toast. Now after I've had a chance to do a little research I see that burned motherboards are a known issue with Spectre's.

I've already contacted HP support and the laptop has been received by the service center. I suppose I could have them send it back, but no one I contacted wants to mess with a motherboard issue. It's bad enough that it's only been out of warranty for less than 3 months so I'll be charged more than a third what I paid for it (new) but I'm also without a computer for almost 2 weeks. As a known issue should I be charged at all?

I'm really frustrated with the whole experience. At this point I doubt that I'll ever buy another HP product. And BTW, my sister-in-law bought this same laptop on my recommendation within months of my purchase, so I loved the laptop the first year or so that I had it. Any help you can offer is appreciated.
