Just ordered a Zbook 17 G4 with one 256 GB NVMe.
Need to add more storage, 500GB or 1 TB.
1. Please confirm that both M2 slots can accept NVMes.
2. Apparently nvmes can have compatibility issues.
Do Samsung's 970 Evo and 970 Evo plus work well in zbook 17 G4?
3. Other recommended nvmes?
4. To clone, does the destination nvme have to be external?
Thanks

WD Black, Adata SX8200, Crucial P1...better question is whether there are any that will not. The Workstations have been pretty flexible. I have a Zbook 15 G3 with a Toshiba THNSN5512GPU7 aka XG3.
Compatibility gets to be less of a problem with newer and newer models. We had lots of issues reported with Intel Core 6th gen models which have pretty much disappeared with 7th and 8th gen models.
Post back with any other questions and please accept as solution if this is the info you needed.

Yes you can use an NVME in either or both M.2 slots. Samsung 970 Evo or Plus work well. You can clone with source and target inside the laptop. Just be sure to use cloning software that can recognize an NVME drive.
Any more questions? Happy to get more specific if needed.
