Hi:
What model processor does your notebook have?
If it has one of the AMD 'A' or 'E'' series processors, there is no M.2 slot.
If it has a Ryzen processor, there should be a M.2 slot that supports NVMe SSD's.
Notebooks with the AMD 'A' or 'E' series processors only have M.2 SATA slots if they came with a M.2 SATA SSD from HP.
See chapter 1 of the service manual for the supported drive types.

If your notebook has an AMD 'A' or 'E' series processor, you would need to replace the 2.5" mechanical hard drive with a 2.5" SATA SSD.
If you look at chapter 3, page 27 of the service manual, additional parts are needed to add a M.2 slot to the motherboard.
