Hi,
This is my first post.. i would like to know whether i can add on an M.2 or PCIe /msata SSD to use for windows and the 1 Tb on board hard drive for storage. Kindly let me know my upgrade options. I did check Crucials website ..they showed only the normal SSD as the upgrade option...I would still like to hear from you guys whether this is the case. BTW im not a tech geek ..so spare me for any errors !

Thank you for responding,
It's great to have you back 😉
It looks like the OS will be installed on the mSATA by default when we ship the PCs with a pre-installed mSATA,
So, you should be able to basically, remove the HDD, install the OS on the mSATA and then reconnect the HDD to use it as a storage device.

Thank you for posting on HP Forums,
Riddle_Decipher is at your service.
As I Understand you want to add an SSD to your PC,
No worries, as I'll be glad to help you, that said, I'll need a few more details to dissect your concern & provide an accurate solution:
Did you check the service and upgrade guide of your PC for details?
If you haven't, Click here to view the guide
That said, you have an m2 SATA slot on your PC and this is what's supported/tested to work on your device:
Solid-state drive board 856210-001
GNRC SSD 256GB 2280 M2 SATA-3 Value 865902-001
GNRC SSD 128GB 2280 M2 SATA-3 Value 847110-002
Solid-state drive cable 856353-001
And also you may upgrade your HDD to a max of 2TB, the universal part numbers for HDD are listed below for your reference:
1 TB 5400 RPM SATA RAW HYBRID 8 GB 731999-005
500 GB 5400 RPM SATA RAW 2.5-in 778188-005
1 TB 5400 RPM SATA RAW 2.5-in 778192-005
2 TB 5400 RPM SATA RAW 9.5 mm 801808-005
Let me know how that pans out
I hope you have a good day ahead,
And Feel free to ask any other queries as well,
Considering, this forum has some of the best people in the world available and ready to help.
