Hi All, thanks in advance for your help.
I want to add a 1tb sata drive to my PC, currently just have the 256 ssd.
I want to be sure of what parts I need other than the hard drive itself and the part numbers so I order the correct parts.
I believe the sata hard drive part number is 762990-005 is this correct?
The description is as follows
1.0TB SATA hard disk drive - 5,400 RPM, 7.0mm form factor - Raw drive, does not include hard drive bracket or screws
I am unsure of what the hard drive bracket and screws are and what part number they are?
Is there anything I am missing?
The procedure to add the drive seems fairly straight forward.

That is correct part for 1TB HDD from HP but you can also use standard 2.5" HDD's with thickness 7mm from other vendors . One thing you also need : Hard drive cover part # L22534-001
Regards.

You need to check carefully that your system will support both devices at the same time. Download the Maintenance and Service guide here https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-17-ca0000-laptop-pc/20395907/manuals
Harddrive cable is L22526-001
Harddrive caddy L22534-001

hi, Thanks for the reply. It seems that the hard drive from HP does not exist any longer or has been discontinued. Can you recommend any other hard drives that you know will fit from other manufacturers.

I also am curious about this. Mine is the 17z-ca300, but the product is the 1C0G5AV. It seems that the manual link that you provided is not specific to this model. My model has a Ryzen 7, not the Ryzen 5, with the NVME SSD M.2 Hard Drive (256 GB). What I have read from other posts as well as the research that I have made there are different areas on the motherboard for M.2 SSD and for another HDD if one would like to install a second drive. Is this correct for this model? If so then I imagine that cables would be missing for the HDD SATA slot, as well as the caddy and both would have to be purchased (am I mistaken). I am not about to take the computer apart to find out and lose my warranty. I've also heard people taking out the optical drive in other computers and replacing it with an SSD or HDD. Why wouldn't another SSD (like a Samsung SATA SSD) be compatible with a system running an M.2 Hard Drive concurrently?
Really we need updated manuals to figure this stuff out. Also mine came with 12 GB of Ram but with different speeds (2666 mhz and 3200 mhz) so not sure what is going on there. Also my Ryzen supports 32 GB of RAM but the outdated manuals out there say that the system only supports 16 GB of RAM, all of which sounds a bit off.

Hi Jeffron,
HP does not do too well to support folks that want to do upgrades. Can't find much on this topic and their parts ordering website shows not record of the hard drive listed in my user manual for this hard drive. What a mess.
