EliteBook 745 G6
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

No apps (Skype, BlueJeans, Facebook Messenger, Zoom, etc.) can recognize my integrated webcam. In Device Manager, it's listed as "USB Boot" under "Cameras", but I suspect it should be under "Imaging Devices". Device Manager says a Microsoft drive is the most up-to-date driver, but I suspect it should be a Realtek driver. I tried installing driver sp 101225 and then restarted, but it didn't seem to have any effect.

Hello

check in Device Manager

if you have a "USB Boot" device instead of the camera,  check the Hardware ID of this device.

if it's VID 0BDA PID 5852

you must update the firmware of the camera

in order to do it download on your PC disk this PDF file and follow the instructions:

Welcome to HP Community

I have gone through your Post and would like to help

Please download and run the HP Support Assistant from this Link: https://www8.hp.com/us/en/campaigns/hpsupportassistant/hpsupport.html?jumpid=va_r602_us/en/any/psg/p...

HPSA will automatically search for all the latest drivers for your Notebook

  1. Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.

Click Updates in the My notebook pane

  2. Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.

Updates list in HP Support Center

  3. Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.

  4. Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.

  5. Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.

Also ensure Windows is up to date.

Select the Start  button, and then go to Settings  > Update & security  > Windows Update , and select Check for updates. If Windows Update says your device is up to date, you have all the updates that are currently available

Keep me posted how it goes

Thank you and have a wonderful day 😊

Thank you for the assistance. My laptop already came with the latest version of HPSA. According to HPSA and Windows Update, my laptop is up-to-date, but my webcam is still not working.

Try a Reset and let know if that helps

It did not help. I did a Reset with Keep My Files. The webcam still shows as USB Boot in the Device Manager and will not work with video conferencing apps.

As a last resort I would recommend a System Recovery to Factory Settings

You can also run a Webcam Test first to confirm the Hardware Functionality

- Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the Notebook.
- Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second.
- When the menu appears, press the F2 key.
- On the main menu, click Component Tests and Webcam

I ran the webcam test but it didn't show anything. I did a Windows Reset with Remove Everything, and the webcam still doesn't work. It's still showing as "USB Boot" in Device Manager.

Microsoft Camera app still shows Error 0xA00F4271 <MediaCaptureFailedEvent> (0x80070018).
