battery life

What is the battery life of 849911-850 battery?  Description on retailer's website said 10.5 hours, but I can't find anywhere that says the actual battery life?  I bought the laptop on Black Friday and got it today.  All it shows is percentage, not hours.  I got burned on a Win 8.1 3 years ago and the battery only held a charge for 1.5 hours.  I don't want to get burned again and only 15 days to return.  Anyone know?  Thanks!

Battery life is more determined by the laptop the battery is in rather than the battery itself. Its for a 17-ab200 series right? It is a 6 cell 62wh 5300 mah battery so lots of cell storage. The problem is the laptop is pretty power hungry. It uses massive 120w and 150w AC adapters. I would not expect 10.5 hours out of it and it might not even get half that if gaming on battery power. 

Just a guess you might get 3 or 4 hours of intense gaming out of the battery and maybe 5 or 6 hours of normal internet browsing and office type work. 

I am assuming this is a new genuine HP battery and not a compatible 3rd party thing.

 The battery life/hours it last all depends on everything running on the computer. Batteries for laptops usually last 1-2 years or up to 400 recharges. Its not recommended to keep it plugged in all day every day as it will burn the battery up faster.

Urban myth. Keeping it plugged in all day does not "burn up" the battery. How exactly do you think that happens? If you are going to spout off the cuff advice, be prepared to back it up, please.

I don't keep it plugged in all the time (previous laptops).  This is not for gaming but work/office use.  It's in OMEN 17W210NR.  I just want to know if I have more than 1.5 hrs before being plugged in

You know I did not make the battery but have lots of years of experience with this. If all you get is 1.5 hours you have a very justifiable claim for a refund/replacement. The battery would qualify as "defective". However, also do not expect 10.5 hours. That is a pipe dream on a 17 inch powerful desktop replacement laptop that uses at least a 120w adapter. 3 hours is the least you should be entitled to get and consider yourself fortunate if you get 5.

I think that's a reasonable expectation.  The problem is I'm replacing a 6 yr old laptop on it's literal last leg that got 5-6 hours on the battery before having to plug it in.  I even have replacement batteries for it but it's clearly dying.  Not worth the money to have it 'tuned up' with the black friday/cyber monday deals for a few bucks more.  Thank you for your input.

Lithium ion molecules have not changed in the last 6 years...don't know the specs of the old laptop but 5-6 hours was good then and still is good, standard battery life for a standard laptop. You might get that out of the Omen but likely not quite.

I believe the motherboard was going out as having multiple issues.
