Hi @shi-w,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Stream battery is not charging and you can't find the battery driver, here’s a step-by-step guide to help you reinstall or update the battery driver.
Check for Basic Issues
- Ensure the Charger is Working: Verify that your charger and power cable are working properly by testing them with another device if possible.
- Inspect the Battery and Connections: Check if the battery is properly connected and if there’s any visible damage to the battery or laptop connectors.
Uninstall the Battery Driver
- Open Device Manager:
- Right-click on the Start menu and select Device Manager.
- Expand the Batteries section.
- Uninstall the Battery Driver:
- Right-click on Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery and select Uninstall device.
- Check the option Delete the driver software for this device if available, then click Uninstall.
Reinstall the Battery Driver
- Restart Your Laptop: Restart your laptop. Windows should automatically reinstall the battery driver upon reboot.
- Check for Driver Updates:
- Go back to Device Manager.
- Right-click on Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery (if it’s listed) and select Update driver.
- Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.
Update Windows
- Check for Windows Updates:
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
- Click Check for updates and install any available updates.
HP Support and Diagnostics
- Use HP Support Assistant:
- If you have HP Support Assistant installed, open it and check for any driver updates or diagnostics.
- Download Drivers from HP Website:
- Go to the HP Support website.
- Enter your HP Stream’s model number and search for drivers and software.
- Download and install the necessary drivers for your battery.
Perform a Power Reset
- Power Reset:
- Shut down your laptop.
- Disconnect the power adapter and remove the battery if possible.
- Press and hold the power button for 15-20 seconds to drain any residual power.
- Reconnect the battery and power adapter, then turn on your laptop.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
