I replaced the battery with an original HP spare part but the notebook does not detect the new battery. I already changed the BIOS to default options , updated the BIOS and also run battery check. Nothing worked.
However when I placed the mouse over the battery icon it says 100% fully charged.
Please help.

Welcome to HP Forums. This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips.
I understand that you already replaced the Battery but the Notebook is not detecting the Battery
I appreciate all your efforts and expertise in troubleshooting this issue 👍
Does the Notebook work without the Ac Adapter connected to it?
Please try these steps and check if that helps
Step 01. Click on the Start Button
Step 02. Type "Device Manager" in the start search box & open the Device Manager
Step 03. Look for Batteries and expand it by click on the + symbol on the left
Step 04. Right Click on "Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery" & uninstall
Note: This Battery driver will get re-installed automatically when you restart the Notebook again
Step 05. Please Shutdown the Notebook
Step 06. Please remove the Battery and unplug the Power Adapter
Step 07. Press and Hold the Power Button for full 1 Minute
Step 08. Go ahead and put back the Battery and connect the Power Adapter
If the issue persists please run a Battery Test and let me know the outcome of the Test
- Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.
- Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second.
- When the menu appears, press the F2 key.
- On the main menu, click Component Tests and Power > Battery
Keep me posted how it goes
Thank you and have a Wonderful Weekend 😀

Description of issue: I bought my notebook on february, 2016 in the US. I recently decided to replace the battery because it did not hold the charge too much time and I bought an original spare part from a HP retailer. However, the notebook did not recognize the new battery; it does not work without the Ac Adapter connected to it. When I turn on the computer with the AC adapter and then unplugg it, it keeps the charge for less than 5 minutes and then it goes off.
I already uninstalled the Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery and restarted the Notebook again.
Also, I unplugged the Power Adapter, Pressed and Hold the Power Button for full 1 Minute, put back the Battery and connected the Power Adapter.
When I run the battery test it says "No battery installed. The battery must be installed before the system is started".

Face the same problem today. My suggestion is to check the battery pins. The battery in my Spectre 13 have 10 pins, but only 8 pins are use. The two pins at the left side of the battery should be remain UNTOUCHED (they should be left outside the battery connector). If touched, the system will behave just like what you have experienced.
