Hello,
I would like help with a problem with my computer, an HP 17t-cn200 running UEFI and windows 11. I purchased a replacement battery from battdepot.com, but here is what is happening after I installed it:
plugged computer into the power adapter, left it charging overnight
turned on the computer
operated computer normally
“battery status” icon on the windows taskbar displayed “94 percent available”
executed the “battery calibration” process several times
“battery status” icon on the windows taskbar displayed different percentages each time
while plugged in or on battery, display percentage never changes
Any advice about how this can be corrected that you might be able to provide will be appreciated, thank you.

Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.
I understand that you are experiencing issues with your replacement battery for your HP 17 Laptop PC 17-c2000. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve this issue:
Check Battery Status: To check the battery status accurately, consider using the HP Battery Check tool available in HP Support Assistant.
- Type support in the taskbar search box and select the HP Support Assistant app.
- Select My PC, then select the Diagnostics and tools tab, and choose HP Battery Check.
Battery Calibration: Sometimes, new batteries need calibration to ensure the battery status indicators are accurate.
- Allow the battery to discharge to below 5 percent.
- Fully charge the battery without interruption.
Inspect Battery Connection: Ensure that the battery is properly seated and the connections are secure. Sometimes, loose connections can cause inaccurate battery readings.
Update Power Management Settings: Check and update your power management settings.
- Right-click the Power Meter icon in the notification area, and then select Adjust Power Properties.
- Under Power Options, ensure that all settings are optimized for your battery.
Run Diagnostics: Run HP’s built-in diagnostics to check for any hardware issues.
- Restart your computer and repeatedly press F2 to enter the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.
- Select the Battery Test and follow on-screen instructions.
Resolving Low Battery Levels
If you encounter low battery levels, try connecting to external power immediately or replacing the battery.
Factory-Sealed Battery: For products with factory-sealed batteries: - If the battery isn’t holding charge, and if HP Battery Check indicates it should be replaced, contact HP Support for assistance as removing or replacing the battery on your own could affect the warranty.
Use of Genuine HP Batteries
It is highly recommended to use genuine HP batteries or replacement batteries sold by HP to ensure compatibility and optimal performance.

the "reply" from hawks-eye appears to be an AI response, not human. my message asking for help detailed the problem and the steps I have already performed. hawks-eye parroting back to me these same steps I have taken is not useful. Is the "HP support assistant" an actual forum with humans involved, or is this all AI nonsense?
