The laptop suddenly stopped booting up.
It has power - the caps lock button is steadily on, but the screen is completely black.
What I tried:
- Reviewed HP PCs - No Power or No Boot Guided Troubleshooter from <http://hp.dezide.com/ts/start.jsp?guide=NoPowerorBootIssues.net&as=true&SFS=sdoc§ion=ccweb>
- Disconnected the battery
- Opened the base enclosure and took out the RAM chip - when I boot this way, the caps lock button signals missing memory with 3 long flashes and 2 short ones.
The laptop is less than 2 years old and was carefully used, but the warranty is only one year.
I'd like to understand if HP would repair it and if not what my options are and how much it is likely to cost.
Thank you!
