Hi, can I upgrade my ssd 120GB to 970 evo plus 500GB?

The specs of your machine is

It uses M.2 SATA SSD and Crucial confirmed this

 

      https://www.crucial.com/usa/en/compatible-upgrade-for/HP-Compaq/pavilion-gaming-15-ak000nx

 

Therefore Samsung 970 M.2 SSD's won't work, not even boot at all.

Hi,

The notebook supports only M2 SATA3 SSDs. You can not use M2 PCIe NVMe drives.

There is no limit to capacity. So, you could upgrade the drive to an M2 Samsung 860 Evo or similar of your desired capacity. The Evo 860 is considered the best SATA3 SSD.

On page 45 of service manual you can see the steps to upgrade the drive.
