@Esalm,

Welcome to our HP User Forum!

Yes, your HP EliteBook 8440p Notebook PC can be fitted at the very least with the i7-620M, 2.66 GHz processor (Turbo up to 3.33 GHz), 4-MB L3 cache, 4 threads, 35-watt TDP, according to: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c02745864.pdf.

We need to find out if your laptop is compatible with the i7-720QM as well.

Hope this was helpful.

Kind Regards,

@Esalm,

All right, figured out how to find out if your laptop is compatible with the i7-720QM:

Please type: device manager in your Windows search bar, left-click on the Device Manager Control panel App, and then click on the "Display adapters".  You'll see something like this (showing my desktop's info):

In your case, if you see: Nvidia N10M-NS, your laptop IS compatible with said processor.

Kind Regards,
