14-ar002tu
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

i want to replace my hard disk with SSD. i have checked on crucial.in website, it says for models 14-ar003/4/5tu we can go for MX500SSD with below specification

Crucial MX500 250GB SATA 2.5" 7mm (with 9.5mm adapter) Internal SSD
CT250MX500SSD1
Configuration ID: CT11736261
250GB 2.5-INCH INTERNAL SSD • SATA 6.0GB/S • 560 MB/S READ, 510 MB/S WRITE

Can you someone confirm if i can go ahead with the same SSD with model 14-ar002tu. Is there a difference between 003/4/5 models which will prevent this replacement?

No problem you are good to go. Just in general, any laptop with a SATA hard drive can have a 2.5 inch SATA SSD instead. Windows 7 and higher will recognize a solid state drive and configure it. No need for any BIOS modifications or anything extreme as you will see described on websites from the very early days of SSDs. Treat it like a hard drive and it will serve you well. Enjoy and good luck.

thanks for the confirmation. I am actually not a technical person and never really opened my laptop, cloned OS or any other thing. do you think i can go ahead on my own considering the complexity of this. Can you direct me to a step by step process which can help me if i decide to do on my own. thanks in advance

HP does not make it easy to find your Service Manual but I believe this is it:

Manual

Also here is the video service library for it.

You need to enable the flash player to make the video play. Let me know if this looks like your laptop.

There are so many ways to set up the new hard drive/SSD. Do you want to clone? Clean install? Let me know and we can zero in on a method that works for you.

Thanks!, the manual and video link is really helpful. I have probably another question about cloning or clean install. if i go for clean install, will i be able to activate my windows 10 using the same digital license my earlier hard drive had? so, in summary, if i am able to retain existing license of windows 10 via clean/new installation on SSD then i will definitely prefer this option since cloning sounds a little complex. But, if cloning is the only way of retainig my license then i will go cloning. please suggest. thanks

License is retained. No need for a Key Code or other credentials.

We can help you with details if you need. Please accept as solution if this is the info you needed.
