Hi @shakhriyor_3011

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand the concern. The cooling fan is a vital component, and when it stops with a sharp, scratch‑like sound, it indicates that the fan blades or motor may not be rotating smoothly.

This can happen due to dust accumulation, wear in the bearings, or an obstruction inside the fan housing. Because the fan is responsible for moving air across the heat sink, any interruption can cause the system to shut down to protect itself.

Here are recommended steps you can follow for your HP Laptop

Run HP App – Diagnose & Fix

Open the HP App from your Start menu.

Select Diagnose & Fix and allow it to check hardware components, including the cooling system.

Apply any recommended updates or fixes.

Update BIOS and Drivers

In the HP App, go to Updates.

Install all pending BIOS and system firmware updates. These often include fan control improvements.

Restart the laptop after updates.

Check Thermal Profile in HP Command Center

Open HP Command Center.

Under Thermal Profile, select Balanced or Quiet mode.

This adjusts fan behavior to reduce sudden spikes and noise.

Perform Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI)

Shut down the laptop.

Press the power button and immediately tap Esc, then select F2 for System Diagnostics.

Run the Component Test → Fan Test.

If the test reports an error, note the code for service reference.

Clean Air Vents

Use compressed air to gently clear dust from the side and bottom vents.

Ensure the laptop is placed on a hard, flat surface to allow proper airflow.

Power Settings Adjustment

In Windows, open Power & Sleep Settings.

Select Additional Power Settings → Balanced.

This reduces unnecessary fan activity during light tasks.

These steps should help stabilize the fan operation and reduce the sharp noise you described. If the diagnostics confirm a hardware fault, the fan may need replacement, but the above measures often restore smoother performance.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
