im looking to upgrade the cpu of my laptop.
im using the hp elitebook 8560w (2 ram slot ersion)
as i do video editing i need to change the cpu and graphics card to be able to work with davinci resolve which recommends a minimum of i7 but im not able to find the best one as my knowledge of these things is somewhat limited.
the specs of the motherboard and installed cpu is as follows
intel core i5 2550m socket 988B rPGA (G2)
mainboard model 1631
from the suggestions i can find on the internet the cpu would have too be dual core and not quad core but im also wondering as to what is the best i7 would be best to be compatible with these specifications.
Furthermore, im wondering as to the graphics card, i really doubt that the 1gb AMD FirePro M5950 that came installed is sufficient to be able to work with the high demands of programmes such as davinci resolve. Any suggestions as to which is the best graphics card that is also compatible with the motherboard?
Many thanks in advance for any help you can give me

Hello gandam2535.
There's another forum member that I've been discussing 8560w upgrading options, I'll give you the link if you wanna take a look at that as well: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/Hp-elitebook8560w/td-p/8506338
As you've probably discovered online, to go from dual-core to quad, you have to change your motherboard. So, the best cpu your motherboard supports according to HP is i7-2640M, 2.80 GHz (Turbo up to 3.40), dual-core processor, 3 MB L3 cache, 4 threads, 35W HP part number 666173-002 .
About the gpus, I think you'd better take a look at the other discussion I had, because the available options you both have are the same. According to the manual of 8560w however, your best option is NVIDIA Quadro 2000M graphics card.
