Sorry to learn that the SD card reader is not working correctly under W10.

 

Did the 8 GB micro SD card work fine in your PC before you upgraded it to W10?

 

If so, I'm afraid that you will have to probably live with it.

 

If you don't know, and had never tried it before...

 

Only one of my 3 HP business laptops can read a micro-SD card in the adapter. They can only read the larger size SD cards.

 

The only notebook that does, is my HP 350 G1, which is a newer model than yours.  The other two are older models than yours.

 

The good news is that you can always connect your camera, cell phone, or whatever device you are using that card in, via the USB port, and get the data off it that way.
