15q-ds0009tu
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

I have a 15q-ds0009tu and am planning to add a extra SSD in M.2 slot. My requirement is only 128GB.

The manual had the outlined the following configuration support:-

Storage M.2 solid-state drive
512 GB, PCIe, TLC
512 GB, PCIe, value
256 GB, PCIe, value
128 GB, SATA-3, TLC

I have 2 question regarding the configuration

1. What does the "value" mean in the above context?

2. 128 GB SATA-3 TLC - Does this mean that it will *not* support 128 GB NVMe SSD and only 128GB SATA SSD.?

Any help in this regard will be helpful.

TIA,

TP

You're very welcome.

It is possible that you can have a dual drive configuration, but most likely the PC is always going to boot from the 2.5" drive unless you remove the operating system from it.

Hi:

The first 3 drives offered in that model series are NVMe, and the 4th one is SATA.

The Triple-Layer Cell (TLC) SSD's are probably higher performing NVMe drives than the 'Value' ones.

TLC SSDs write three bits to each cell.

Ok, thanks Paul.

Just one more question.

My laptop in India came with only the 1TB 5400RPM  hard drive. I would like add an additional SSD ( just for boot speed).

So i could still add a 128GB SSD and it will compatible correct?
