spoke with hp chat support they just keep telling me to talk contact them over the phone which is not viable since I live in central America and international calling is not cheap, so can anyone tell me if I can replace a nonbacklit to a backlit keyboard.

No information about keyboard at all. The series has 2 options with keyboard, does your have a key with backlit symbol (normally f5)?
- If yes, please use that key to toggle keyboard lights on/off.
- If no, it does not have backlit keyboard and you can't change it.
Regards.

it does not have that function or key, F5 has no other function on my current keyboard.
The real question will this laptop "will the motherboard" support replacing the keyboard with one that actually lights up, for example,
