Your machine has  1 TB 5400 rpm SATA now. You can add M.2 SATA SSD to your machine using Crucial MX500 or Samsung 860 series to your machine. For example

      https://www.crucial.com/usa/en/hp-15-db0004dx/CT14359420

You would need following parts before you can add M.2 SSD.

  • Solid-state drive bracket part # L20458-001
  • Solid-state drive connector board part # L22542-001
  • Solid-state drive cable part # L20456-001

Regards.

Hi,

You do not need any extra parts to install an M2 SSD in the notebook. It supports M2 SATA3 and much faster M2 PCIe NVMe SSD.

Examples:

https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-970-EVO-1TB-MZ-V7E1T0BW/dp/B07BN217QG/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=970+evo&qid...

https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-860-SATA-Internal-MZ-N6E1T0BW/dp/B07822Z77M/ref=sr_1_2?keywords=860+e...

On page 47 of service manual you can see the steps to install the drive

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c06245081

you will need to reinstall the OS on the SSD for performance gain.

Hope it helps,

David
