HP 240 G6
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Good morning, I have the following question. I need to expand the memory to my laptop. It is an HP 240 G6 1NW27LA # AC8.

It has an i5-7200u processor. Right now you have 8Gb of ram installed (2x4gb 2400mhz) but I need to take it to 16gb of ram. The problem is that in the specifications it indicates that the maximum allowed is 2x8gb (total 16gb). The problem is that I don't get 2x8 but 1x16gb. Although in the HP specifications it is not indicated as possible, the manufacturer of the processor indicates that the maximum memory supported is up to 32gb. So who should I believe? I leave the link with the specifications of the processor. I hope you can help me. Thank you!!!

Hi:

Both the service manual and the Crucial memory report indicate the max is 2 x 8 GB.

Maybe the notebook would support 32 GB of memory, but that is a lot of money to take a gamble with.

This discussion suggests that the 250 G6 will take 32 GB of memory.  See Iomare's post...6th one down.

The 250 G6 is the 15.6" screen model of yours.   No other difference.

Dear Paul, based on Iomare's answer in the link you shared, I would assume that the laptop does support 1x16gb.
Thank you very much for quick answer. Surely I will make the purchase of the memory and I will test it. I hope to get lucky!

You're very welcome.

Please post back and let us know the results.

I would leave the existing memory chip installed and see if you get more than 16 GB to show up.

If you do, then you can install 2 x 16 GB.

Paul, I've purchased 1x16gb and 1x8gb, so at the moment, the system is running with 24gb and apparently there is no problem.

So, I think 32gb is supported too.

thx a lot.

Juan Pablo.

You're very welcome.

I agree that 32 GB would work just fine.
