It is detecting that it is not completely closing, as if something is "Jammed" inside the unit, and so it opens, to indicate that the "close" cannot be completed.

Turn the computer off, with the door open.

Disconnect the AC power.

If a laptop, remove the battery.

Look inside the device for any obstruction.

[Got any children that may have thought the tray was a toaster-oven, and put their sandwich inside?]

Grab the case, and give it a shake, and listen for anything "loose".

Or, replace the drive.

Hello;

Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!

Does the drive keep opening, even after you have closed it?

Or, does it open every time you boot the PC?

We can proceed when you provide the information.

Thanks
