I wanted to get my laptop repaired so I googled for a service centre near me. Then there was this one outlet in wave mall, gomtinagar, Lucknow Uttar Pradesh. So I went there and asked if I can get my laptop repaired or can they do a repair job? So he said yes and he repaired it. But he hired a private technician to repair and the outlet turned out to be not a service centre. Now how am I supposed to know if they cheated me with parts repaired or not. They should have told me beforehand that they were unauthorised to repair the laptop.

@Shambhavi_342,

Welcome to our HP Community forum!

It sounds like you may have accidentally visited a third-party repair shop rather than an HP Authorized Service Center. HP-authorized centers are the only facilities officially approved by HP to perform repairs using genuine HP parts and procedures.

Unfortunately, some independent outlets use HP logos or claim association with HP without authorization. In such cases, HP cannot verify the quality of the repair or the authenticity of the replacement parts.

To protect yourself and ensure proper service in the future:

  1. Check HP's official service locator before visiting any repair outlet: https://support.hp.com/in-en/service-center.
    This page lists all authorized HP service centers across India.

  2. Ask for proof of authorization -HP-authorized centers can provide documentation or display signage showing their official HP partnership.

  3. If you believe the third-party outlet misrepresented itself as HP, you can report the issue to HP Support directly:

    • Call HP India Support at 1  8 0 0  2 5 8  7 1 7 0 (toll-free).

    • Or use the contact form on HP's website.

You can also contact your local consumer protection forum if you suspect you were misled, but please be reminded that HP itself cannot be held liable for work done by an unauthorized shop.

Kind Regards,
