Hi @TalkativeGuard,

I understand your HP laptop shows a battery counterfeit check error at startup even after updating the BIOS. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

Perform a proper power reset
Shut down the laptop and unplug the AC adapter.
Press and hold the Power button for 15 seconds, then reconnect the adapter and turn the laptop on.

Check BIOS battery status
Restart the laptop and enter BIOS setup.
Look for battery information or health status and confirm the battery is detected normally.

Reset BIOS settings to default
In BIOS, choose Restore Defaults or Load Setup Defaults, then save and exit.
This clears any corrupted power or battery configuration values.

Confirm BIOS version stability
Make sure the BIOS update completed successfully and matches your exact model.
If the error disappeared temporarily after the update, the issue may be related to battery firmware communication.

Update HP system drivers
Install the latest chipset and power management drivers for your model.
These drivers control how the system communicates with the battery.

Run HP battery calibration
Fully charge the laptop to 100%, then let it discharge to below 10% without interruption.
Power it off, recharge to 100% again, and restart to recalibrate battery reporting.

Observe when the error appears
Note whether the message appears only on cold boots or every restart.
Intermittent errors often indicate a battery authentication or internal battery firmware issue.

Understand what the error usually means
A counterfeit battery warning does not always mean the battery is fake.
It commonly indicates a faulty battery ID chip or unstable battery communication, even on brand-new systems.

I hope this helps.
