HP ENVY dv7
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Bought a used notebook and am thinking low 4GBmemory, and old hdd may be holding it down.  Was wondering if anyone else has upgraded to ssd and how much memory this machine will hold.  it has 64bit AMD A8 processor with radon graphics, and previous owner had already added 2 gb no name memory to existing 2gb factory.  Would i be wastinjg money by stacking in  2X32 gb chips and stuffing in a ssd or should i just go buy a chromebook?

thanks

Hello @crispybaconleo,

I personally don't have the greatest experiences with AMD A8 APUs but replacing an HDD with an SSD will probably provide a significantly different experience in terms of boot up times and file accessing. RAM upgrade can help somewhat.

One thing I can say for sure is that it most definitely cannot take 2*32GB.

However, to provide more information on replacements, a specific model name or product number would be appreciated. E.g. HP Spectre x360 - 13-ap0028ca or 5MT98UA#ABL

Information on how to find a laptop's model name or product number is detailed in this HP document. (Please do not post serial numbers on the HP Support Community. The difference between a product number and a serial number is that the product number contains a # sign)
